Program of Study Change
A change in a student’s graduate program requires approval both by the new program and the Dean of Graduate Studies. Admission to a new program is not guaranteed. Graduate student assistantships will not automatically transfer with students approved for admission to a new program
Students interested in changing programs should first contact the Graduate Program Director to gain a clear understanding of the new program’s requirements. Students must submit a petition to change their program. The student’s original application materials will be accepted as part of the review process, but additional materials may be required depending on the admissions requirements of the new program. The proposed program will review the form and application materials. If admitted, the program will determine how much of the student’s previously completed work may be applied to the new graduate degree, in accordance with the university’s transfer of credit. Students changing programs should also consult the Academic Forgiveness policy where necessary.
