General Degree Requirements
College of Arts and Sciences
Candidates must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, including all Integrative Core and major requirements, with an average of at least 2.0 (C) for all course work completed at John Carroll University.
Candidates must complete all of the course and proficiency requirements for the degree sought.
Candidates must complete all of the major requirements with an average of at least 2.0. Similarly, optional minors and concentrations must be completed with at least a 2.0 average.
Students are held to the degree requirements in force at the time of their entrance into the college and program. If they are formally readmitted to the college, they are held to the requirements in force at the time of their readmission. For additional details, see the Bulletin of Entry policy.
All degree requirements normally must be completed within 10 years of the date on which college work was begun. Exceptions must be approved by the dean, associate dean, or assistant dean. For additional details, see the Degree Completion Time Limit policy.
Candidates must file an application for degree by the date specified in the academic calendar. Additional information can be found on the Registrar's website.
Candidates must fulfill all financial obligations to John Carroll University.
John M. and Mary Jo Boler College of Business
To be eligible for a degree, candidates must satisfy the following general requirements:
The completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours of acceptable college work.
The completion in residence of 18 hours of business core courses at the 200 level and above.
Except in Boler-approved study abroad programs, no major courses may be taken outside of John Carroll University.
The fulfillment of all course work in the degree program.
The attainment of an average grade of C (2.0) or higher in the courses completed in the major, courses completed in the Boler College of Business, and in all courses completed at the University (including all minors and concentrations), each group considered separately.
If required, the passing of a comprehensive examination in the major field.
If required, the completion of an approved internship that consists of a minimum of 135 hours.
The completion of all degree requirements within ten years of the date on which college work was begun.
The filing of an application for the degree by the assigned day, for degrees to be awarded in May, in August, or in January.
The fulfillment of all financial obligations to John Carroll University.
The completion of the following business core courses (100 & 200 level before 300 level):

Managing Employees for Competitive Advantage—course
Supply Chain and Operations Management—course

The legal environment/business law requirement (course/course) differs by major. Please refer to a particular major in this Bulletin for the exact requirement.
Strategic Management or capstone class in Economics: course is required for all students seeking the B.S.B.A. and is to be taken in the senior year. Economics majors seeking the B.S.E. take course instead of MHR 499.
