Course Description
Introductions to the topics of fluid mechanics, waves in elastic media, sound waves, temperature, heat and the first law of thermodynamics, kinetic theory of gases, entropy and the second law of thermodynamics, Maxwell’s equations, electromagnetic waves, geometric optics, interference and diffraction. Engineering applications will be emphasized. Prerequisite: PH 136, MT 136; Minimum Grade of C- in both courses.
