Origins of World War I, with particular emphasis on social, political, economic, and strategic factors; the experience of modern industrial warfare in the trenches and in civilian society; the impact of technology on perceptions of warfare; radicalization of political sentiments among revolutionaries and supporters of continued conflict; the peace settlement and its legacy.Prerequisite: EN 125 or equivalent.Corequisite: EN 2282.
