Course Description

This class is to prepare students for a Virtual immersion experience on Race, Caste and Colorism and to accompany them as they process what they experienced after the immersion. AR 160 will provide students with an opportunity to learn about the complex historical, social, economic, and political realities facing marginalized peoples around the world. It will also provide students with an in-depth immersive experience where they will learn directly about race, caste, colorism and equity from locations such as Kenya, Tanzania, Brazil, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, India, Italy, and Wyoming, USA. The immersion will be held for 5 days with two 1.5 hour sessions per day, each with a different global partner. In our post-immersion retreat, students will apply what they learned to their future careers, and beyond.
