Course Description
An introduction to the Iliad and the Odyssey, the Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. Includes the origin of the epics in the pre-literate transmission of myths about the Trojan War; the impact of oral composition on the epics’ poetic structures and storytelling techniques; the themes of mortality, honor, homecoming, marriage; and the importance of storytelling itself.Prerequisite: EN 125 or equivalent.Co-requisite: HS 2214.
