Course Description
Taught in French. Emphasizes the role of French culture and history as related to the sciences. A four-skills approach includes mastering practical spoken French within a cultural context using appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Develops learners’ ability to handle common medical or scientific situations in French, and negotiate differences of opinion related to the topic both orally and in writing. Exploration of ethical issues such as reproductive rights, withholding/withdrawing life-sustaining treatment, and issues in organ donation and transplant. Prerequisite: FR 201, equivalent, or demonstrable intermediate-mid proficiency.
