Course Description
Explores the nature, impact, and reality of poverty, providing a critical framework for understanding why poverty exists in our society and the impact it has on our communities. Topics include segregation, homelessness, evictions, health disparities, and education. Readings, lectures, guest speakers, and service learning enhance our understanding of this interlocking social problem. The class will hear testimonies of people who live this reality every day and seek to figure out what justice requires of us as individuals, and as a society.
